Does your company culture need an upgrade?
Updated: Apr 8, 2021

Sooo, you have a business or organization. I would guess that you have a lot of work to do to make sure that it is thriving and growing. Sometimes as a leader, it can be difficult to navigate the overall vision and direction of our company while also making sure that the culture of your company is healthy. And now that everything is virtual, it might be a little bit harder.
So here are some ways to check in with yourself (as a leader) and your company’s culture
(virtual or in person)
Are you being transactional or transformational?
Transactional leadership is solely focused on the work that needs to be done. It’s not concerned with the people that have to complete the work. The issue with this is that there is no compassion or empathy in this type of leadership and usually employees will begin to feel unappreciated, overworked and burnt out. Transformational leadership is focused on the work and those that they need to accomplish it. They use their character, creativity and compassion to motivate their team.
2. How has your communication been lately?
At this point, everyone is tired of Zooms and emails . Is all your communication solely focused on what has to be done that day. Have you checked in with your team about anxiety, overwhelm, fatigue? If you haven’t, it may be time to pivot your conversations and add empathy so that your employees are encouraged to do quality work again. Remember your employees are NOT robots and neither are you. Get back in touch with your feelings.
3. Be okay with not getting it right
Navigating virtual culture is still new for many of us. We are all still learning how to hold each other accountable for our actions and work ethic. So be a transparent leader and welcome the feedback of your team.
You don't have to be perfect but remember that your company culture impacts your company's reputation, your reputation impacts your brand and your brand impacts your marketing. They all work together so if it wasn't a priority before... make it one in this quarter!
